Abu Bakr Al-Barnawi

Alfa Abu Bakr got married and gave birth to Muhammed Nollah, Sunmonu Okete, and Alfa Tairu alias Ajigbo toloruncame from Kanem Bornu, one of the oldest surviving lslamic empires in world history. He was Kanuris originally. The praise Folklore or Oriki of Nollah's acknowledges them, as "OMO MONDE BORONU ARA IDI ADUA" Meaning "Dweller of Bornu who fervently prays" extraction was said to have migrated to Lagos at circa 1825 and settled at Oko-Awo area of Lagos. It was aptly that, for some time, the Muslim hierarchy of Imams were usually non-natives in genealogy. He served as the first Imam of Oko Awo Mosque, which he built, in 1832. up till 1881 when he became the Chief Imam of the Lagos Central Mosque.
